On Friday, May 12, 2017 the book launch of the collective volume recently published by the Volos Academy Publications and entitled Personhood, Eucharist and the Kingdom of God in Orthodox and Ecumenical Perspective: Synaxis Efcharistias in Honor of Metropolitan John D. Zizioulas of Pergamon was successfully held in the framework of the 14th Thessaloniki Book Fair. Round table participants included Rev. Dr. John Chryssavgis, Archdeacon of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, Dr. Panayiotis Yfantis, Associate Professor of the School of Theology at the University of Thessaloniki and Petros Papasarantopoulos, Publisher and Writer. The event was chaired by Dr. Pantelis Kalaitzidis, Director of the Volos Academy for Theological Studies.

As one of the most important representatives of the theological generation of '60, who enjoys universal ecclesiastical and academic recognition, Metropolitan John (Zizioulas) of Pergamon occupies for decades the inter-Christian academic theological discussion, as well as the ecumenical official dialogue between the Churches. With his multifaceted work he have provoked fruitful reflection on the essential issues of theological discussion and church life, opening at the same time contemporary Orthodox theology to a creative dialogue with modern culture, beyond confessional and defensive preconceptions and without the fear of any otherness. This collective volume contains the proceedings of the conference and the honorary event held in Volos on 28-30 October 2011, on the occasion of the reception of His Eminence as Fellow of the Volos Academy for Theological Studies. Without compromising the necessary critical function, which must always be inherent in theology, this volume attempts to express the aspect of indebtedness through a careful study of various aspects of Zizioulas’s theological program.

Authors include: Nikolaos Asproulis, Konstantinos Agoras, Petros Vassiliadis, Bishop of Požarevac and Braničevo Ignatius (Midić), Metropolitan Maximos of Silyvria (Vgenopoulos), Rev. Demetrios Bathrellos, Stavros Yangazoglou, Georgios Martzelos, Theofilos Abatzidis, Michel Stavrou, Bishop of Western America Maximos (Vasiljević), Konstantinos Delikostantis, Ekaterini Tsalampouni, Aristotle Papanikolaou, Haralambos Ventis, Pantelis Kalaitzidis.
